The most effective argument against Christianity by Muslims, Orthodox Jews, LDS, Atheists, etc. is the trinity as it is taught in our seminaries and churches.
The unbelievers say, “You believe in Three Gods and therefore are polytheistic.” Orthodox Christianity responds with Jesus is 100% man and 100% God which equals 200%. The Father is a BEING, the Son is a BEING and the Holy Spirit is a BEING each having DISTINCTLY DIFFERENT wills, personalities and purposes each possessing the ESSENCE OF GOD. This type of ‘double talk’ and spin convinces many unbelievers that Christianity is false because ‘common sense’ says that THREE SEPARATE people cannot be ONE BEING if they are SEPARATE and DISTINCTLY DIFFERENT.
When this philosophy is challenged , the Christian is told to just ACCEPT IT BY FAITH because GOD IS A MYSTERY that we CANNOT UNDERSTAND.
For God is not the AUTHOR OF CONFUSION, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. 1 CORINTHIANS 14:33
The statement that we CANNOT understand the Godhead is CLEARLY and EXPLICITLY refuted by the Apostle Paul:
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and GODHEAD; so that they are without excuse: ROMANS 1:20
Who are we taught to have faith in, the Word of Jesus or the teachings of theologians? The only recourse a Christian has in response to the accusation of confusion and double-talk is to cite the writings of Alexandrian/Catholic Theologians beginning in the fourth century and the teaching of Seminary Christianity. If it could be shown CLEARLY in scripture without any PRIVATE interpretation or imagination there would be no need to have FAITH in the THEOLOGIANS and the unbeliever would have no recourse but to admit that it is the ACTUAL teaching of Jesus and His apostles. Because the whole of organized Seminary Christianity has chosen the way of the Roman Catholic Doctrine as invented by Constantine and Alexandrian philosophers, not the Apostles of Jesus Christ, the unbeliever has a huge foundation to stand on in their rejection of Christianity. However, IF a Christian would follow the example set forth by the Bereans in ACTS 17, who are called NOBLE, in scripture, and VERIFY EVERY doctrine by CONTEXTUAL SCRIPTURE ALONE as was ONCE delivered by the apostles of Jesus Christ (GALATIANS 1), the SIMPLE TRUTH would be concretely established.
By not being able to cite EXPLICIT and DETAILED INSTRUCTION of the trinity doctrine by Christ, His apostles or ANY of God’s Prophets of the past the ‘RELIGION’ of Christianity has been brought down to the SAME level of human REASONING as any of the FALSE RELIGIONS we see in the world.
The Bible CLEARLY teaches that GOD IS ONE, NOT THREE BEINGS, who BECAME FLESH and died for our sins. That is; the SAME GOD who dwells in Heaven produced His own IMAGE in FLESH by the power of His own SPIRIT, the HOLY SPIRIT. His WORD, IS HIS SPIRIT, It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, THEY ARE SPIRIT, and they are life. JOHN 6:63 God is a SPIRIT. JOHN 4:24 The Word which is God’s Spirit was made FLESH. In the beginning was the Word (SPIRIT), and the Word (SPIRIT) was with God, and the Word (SPIRIT) was God. JOHN 1:1 And the Word (SPIRIT) was made flesh, and dwelt among us, JOHN 1:14 You see? The Holy Spirit which is the WORD of GOD that spoke in the beginning MANIFESTED in FLESH (1 TIMOTHY 3:16), JESUS CHRIST, the IMAGE OF THE INVISIBLE GOD. Who is the IMAGE OF THE INVISIBLE GOD, the firstborn of every creature: COLOSSIANS 1:15 Jesus is NOT ANOTHER BEING or PERSON.
He is the VERY IMAGE or VESSEL of the SAME GOD that spoke through the prophets of old, the INVISIBLE GOD. That’s why He said; I and the FATHER are ONE. JOHN 10:30
